These days most of us are health freaks and are looking for something healthy and at the same time yummy to eat. Moong daal chillas are one of such recipes. These are healthy as you can add as many veggies as you like to the protein rich chilla paste.
It’s a good tiffin recipe as well. You can even play with the chilla paste. I love trying different shapes, especially the ones my 3 year old daughter tells me to prepare. This in disguise helps me to add to her excitement to eat those healthy chillas. 😇
It’s an easy recipe. I hope you will enjoy preparing it as well.
For chilla paste:
Whole moong: 1 cup soaked overnight
Ginger- 1 inch piece
Salt to taste
Onion- 1 small finely chopped
1/2 cup veggies finely chopped- grated carrot, chopped cabbage, chopped spinach
Oil for cooking chillas
For coconut chutney:
Grated coconut- 1cup
Chana daal- 1/3 cup
Curry leaves- few
Ginger-1 inch piece
Salt to taste
Whole red chillies
Oil- 1 tsp
1.Soak the moong overnight and then drain the water. Grind it along with ginger, salt and green chillies to a fine paste using some water. Keep on adding water cautiously as required.
2.Add chopped veggies and onion to this prepared paste and make chillas out of it on a skillet using oil.
3. For coconut chutney, in a pan take some oil and add curry leaves to it. Let them roast and then add Chana daal to it and roast it as well.
4. Add roasted Chana daal mix to grated coconut in a grinder along with salt, lemon juice, green chillies and ginger. Grind these to a fine paste using some water. And your chutney is ready.
5. You may add tempering of mustard seeds and whole red chillies on the prepared chutney.
